September 23, 2025Mixing and Matching Bedding Patterns
When you think about decorating a bedroom, you quickly realize that the bed often does most of the talking design-wise. It’s usually the largest element in the room and the one we notice most. For this reason, I think it’s nice to take some time to create and interesting mix of fabrics on the bed if possible.

For this client’s bedroom I started with an easy-breezy and casual chambray duvet cover. Its blue of course, but with a slubby texture that isn’t too perfect. I found a great set of striped blue and white sheets which add some nice pattern. Then I layered in some khaki coloured linen Euro shams. These are one extra note of colour yes, but also necessary when we’re using a metal headboard like this one. It’s much easier to read in bed with Euro shams when the headboard is metal. And then because I couldn’t resist, I threw on a couple of navy and white paisley block print style decorative cushions. I know I know, people complain about too many pillows on the bed but in this case, only these two are purely decorative. So sue me!
The night stand and dresser (not shown) are a nice sandy driftwood finish and the lamp is a mottled glass bottle style (a personal favourite). One more timeless touch is the bamboo roman blind. When curtains will be too fussy, these bamboo blinds are a no brainer.
And there you go, easy peasy!
