Michael Penney is an esteemed interior decorator and retailer working on projects throughout Northumberland County and the Greater Toronto Area, including some of the region’s most magical historic properties. He is known for his paired-back elegant sensibility and for his fresh take on traditional aesthetics. Michael is known for creating homes that exude warmth and personality and set the scene for the families that live there in pure comfort and beauty.
Michael has been working in Canada’s design industry for 18 years with posts at top interiors magazines, design television, and brand partnerships. His eponymous interiors shop and studio was established in 2012 and continues to thrive in the quaint community of Port Hope, Ontario.
With a deep respect for heritage, Michael aims to bring a sense of history and timelessness to the spaces he creates by incorporating vintage finds and antiques combined in a fresh, breezy manner. He aims to honor the planet by employing sustainable products and methods, including vintage furnishings, natural fibers, and lower-carbon-footprint local products made in Canada. Michael believes that a beautiful, comfortable home is available at all price points and seeks to stretch every budget while working within his clients’ means.

- Oversee the project schedule, including any necessary trades.
- Complete the final installation over a few days.
