Welcome to Penney & Company, your friendly neighbourhood decor shop in the heart of Historic Downtown Port Hope.

I first opened my shop in 2012 in a tiny run down space that had been vacant for decades. Fast forward eight years and we’ve grown several times and moved on to larger spaces with more selection and variety.

In a world full of big-box mass retailers, it’s so wonderful to welcome my customers into a unique, personal, independent shop full of my favourite things.

Before Penney & Company came along, I was a style editor at Canadian House & Home Magazine where I worked on decorating stories, projects and photo shoots. It was at this time that I began appearing on CTV’s Marilyn Denis Show creating decor magic with Marilyn for viewers coast to coast. Later I went on to work along with Sarah Richardson at her firm and on her HGTV television show. But the pull of my hometown was too strong and I was drawn home to start something new. It’s been a great challenge with many lessons learned but each customer that finds his or her way through our doors becomes part of this wonderful community.

In 2020 my family and I moved to a historic home in Port Hope Ontario – a life long dream!  Along with moving our family and lives, we moved Penney & Company to a wonderful place in Downtown Port Hope and have already begun becoming part of this wonderful community. We can’t wait to share all that we offer with our new home town and love it when we see familiar faces who have come along with us to our new location.
